A Historic Milestone on the Path to a Brilliant Future

Five years ago, on October 4, 2019, this university officially embarked on an unprecedented and ambitious journey that promised to shape a brilliant future for our campus, our region, and, indeed, our world. The Brilliant Future philanthropic campaign set out to raise $2 billion in new private support and simultaneously engage at least 75,000 alumni.

I am delighted to announce today that the campaign has officially reached both target goals, with just over eight months still to go before it ends on October 4 of this year, our 60^th anniversary. You can read more about this landmark milestone in the press release.

Thanks to the unparalleled generosity of more than 113,000 individual donors, the campus is helping more students achieve the American dream, transforming healthcare and wellness, accelerating world-changing research, and ever more deeply exploring the human experience.

This achievement would not have been possible without the steadfast leadership of campaign chairs Jimmy and Sheila Peterson, the dedication and hard work of Brian Hervey, vice chancellor for university advancement and alumni relations and president of the UC Irvine Foundation, and his outstanding team across campus, and, of course, your enthusiastic support and participation.

We have accomplished so much, but we’re not finished. Together, we will continue to seek out new partners, to build the Anteater family, and to create a brilliant future ... for this generation and the next.
