Town Hall on September 14
As we move past the immediate and unexpected demands of a global pandemic into a period of greater predictability, we must seize the opportunity to reimagine everything. After all, much of the world today only vaguely resembles what it was a mere two and a half years ago.
To create the workplace of tomorrow, I asked many of our leaders to apply what we have learned during our flexible work pilot program, Future of Work, and help design a program that supports a long-term, flexible work environment based on the following principles:
- Quality will not be compromised. UCI is one of the top universities in the world, and continued preeminence is critical; our commitment to enhancing the value of the UC degree, addressing society’s grandest challenges through research and critical inquiry, and providing life-saving health care will never wane.
- People first. The well-being and success of our people are always our priority.
- Create an environment that supports our best work. We recognize that each individual deserves a place to shine, whether it’s on a campus, at a medical office, or at a remote location.
These principles form the foundation of our flexible workplace program, Work Reimagined. The successor to the Future of Work program, Work Reimagined takes the best of what we have learned and couples it with the guidance and skills necessary to create long term staff success in a flexible work environment.
To learn more about Work Reimagined, please join us for an enterprise-wide town hall on Wednesday, September 14, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. You can also visit the new web section about it. If you have questions regarding Work Reimagined, please contact your Human Resources Business Partner or your unit’s HR professional.
Together, we will work smarter, more innovatively, and more collaboratively than we ever have before, and it all starts with Work Reimagined. I look forward to telling you about it on September 14.
Fiat Lux,
Chancellor Howard Gillman
