Easing of campus COVID-19 protocols

Two years ago today I wrote to you all announcing the difficult but necessary decision to shift most of our operations from in-person to remote status because of the need to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

This has been a difficult and trying period for all of us, and I am honored to recognize each of you for your resilience, dedication and perseverance. Every member of the Anteater community should be very proud of our tremendous work in fulfilling our mission of teaching, research and service during this extraordinary time.

Happily, we find ourselves today in a much better situation than we were two years ago or even two months ago.

Thanks to your active support of all the measures we have taken, and thanks to a fundamentally different and better public health environment within our region, we are now able to look forward to a more normal teaching, learning and working experience.

Consequently, we have decided to revise our campus protocols beginning Saturday, March 19. Details on updated COVID-19 protocols for spring quarter will follow from Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Hal S. Stern.

We will, of course, continue to be vigilant, continue to monitor the data and adjust our response as needed – just as we have always done over the past two years.

This is very good news for all of us – students, faculty and staff alike. Best wishes for a successful winter quarter finals week and healthy spring break!

Fiat Lux.
