Naming Gift for IMCA

I am delighted to announce that UCI has received a transformational gift from UCI Foundation trustees Shanaz and Jack Langson to support and advance the Institute and Museum of California Art. In recognition of their extraordinary philanthropy, IMCA will be named the Jack and Shanaz Langson Institute and Museum of California Art.

This major gift will support the construction and operation of a state-of-the art museum and research building that will house Langson IMCA and its world-class collection of California art that spans the full array of our state’s exceptional artistic creativity from the late 19th century to the current day. It will also provide the foundation stone of the institute’s endowment, providing support in perpetuity.

With this gift, UCI will continue to move forward its mission of making the arts a central element of the UCI experience and build upon its role as an educational, research and cultural anchor for the entire region. Working with numerous campus partners and outside institutions, IMCA considers what constitutes California Art and how to tell these stories in informed, inclusive, and just ways, ensuring that a diversity of voices and lived experiences are presented. You can learn more about Langson IMCA in our public announcement today.

Shanaz and Jack Langson are longtime and passionate supporters of this university. Please join me in expressing our deepest gratitude to them for their continued philanthropy and friendship.
