Welcome back

Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic year! I want to extend a special welcome to the new undergraduate and graduate students who have joined our wonderful campus community. But this year especially, I also want to convey the immense joy and excitement that I feel in welcoming all of our students back to in-person instruction and in-person activities.

Starting with move-in last week, I have seen firsthand our beautiful campus come back to life in a way that is deeply moving. We have missed you all so much! I talked to many students at Monday’s Anteater Involvement Fair in Aldrich Park and heard from everyone how happy and thankful they are to once again be in each other’s company. It has never been more true to observe that nothing equals the rush of energy, anticipation, and enthusiasm that accompanies the beginning of an academic year.

We have been working toward this day for many months, and finally it has arrived. Faculty and staff have devoted countless hours to develop and put in place significant measures to promote your well-being on campus and provide a rich, in-person experience for our students. I am very proud of, and grateful to, all of you for your remarkable support and participation.

We are all fortunate to be part of this world of learning, discovery, and engagement, and the work we do here truly matters – to us, to our community, and to the world. Together, we will do great things.

Best wishes for a successful and fulfilling year.

Fiat Lux.
