UCI ranked No. 1 best value public university

UCI’s stature as one of our nation’s finest universities has been affirmed once again. Forbes magazine has ranked our campus No. 1 among public universities, and No. 3 overall, in its 2019 Best Value Colleges survey for our excellence, affordability and access.

The magazine examined 645 colleges and universities across the U.S., scoring them in six areas: quality; net price; net debt; alumni earnings; timely graduation; and access for low–income students. Brigham Young University and Princeton University led the list, with UCI outpacing Harvard University, the University of Washington, Stanford University and other elite institutions. In addition to UCI, five of our sister UC campuses were in the top 13 of the ranked schools, demonstrating the importance of UC to our state.

We are proud to provide unparalleled opportunities for all our students to succeed, no matter what their background. We would not be able to do so, and would not receive this kind of recognition, without the hard work and dedication of all our faculty, staff, students and supporters. It is you who have brought UCI to the topmost ranks of higher education in this country and around the world.

Fiat Lux,

Chancellor Howard Gillman
