Appointment of Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Edgar Dormitorio as interim vice chancellor for student affairs, effective June 29.

Edgar has served as assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff within the Division of Student Affairs since September 2013, helping to manage its 32 departments, approximately 900 staff members and 2,000 student employees with an operating budget of more than $200 million. The major units within Student Affairs include Enrollment Management; Wellness, Health & Counseling Services; Student Life & Leadership; and Auxiliary Services.

Prior to that, Edgar was UCI’s interim associate vice chancellor for enrollment management, assistant dean of students and director of the Office of Student Conduct, and head of Veteran Services and the Volunteer Center.

A proud Anteater alumnus (social science ’97), Edgar has been a steadfast advocate for our students throughout his career. His broad experience in student affairs and tireless efforts to improve the student experience will carry forward the important work of the Division of Student Affairs as we conduct a national search for the next vice chancellor for student affairs.

Please join me in congratulating Edgar on his new role at UCI.
