UCI Ranks 9th Among Nation's Public Universities

To the Anteater community:

Once again, UCI has been named a top 10 public university by U.S. News & World Report. For the third consecutive year, UCI ranks ninth on the esteemed list, which is derived from 15 measures of academic excellence, weighted by relevance to high-quality education.

I am delighted that UCI is deservedly recognized as one of the finest public universities in the nation and am especially proud that our institution continues to provide world-class opportunities to those who traditionally have not had access to higher education.

Among all American universities, public and private, UCI is ranked No. 42. USN&WR also pronounced it a top 25 college for veterans, among the top 20 for low student debt at graduation, No. 31 for best undergraduate business program, and No. 40 for best undergraduate engineering program.

Earlier this year, UCI also celebrated being named the No. 1 university in the U.S. “doing the most for the American dream” by The New York Times’ College Access Index in recognition of the campus’s commitment to economic diversity and mobility.

Congratulations to all members of the Anteater community! I want to thank each of you for your individual contributions that led to this universitywide achievement. This ranking would not be possible without the support of our outstanding faculty, staff, students, partners and alumni. As we get ready for a new academic year, I hope you will take pride in this news and share it with your family and friends.

Fiat Lux,

Chancellor Howard Gillman
