UCLA shooting

To the Anteater community:

Many of you have probably already heard the horrific and tragic news of a fatal shooting at our sister campus UCLA. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and the entire Bruin community.

This morning, a gunman targeting an engineering building prompted a campuswide lockdown at UCLA. Police have confirmed to UCLA officials that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide and that the campus is now safe. Additional details will emerge as police and authorities continue to investigate the situation.

Please know there is no known threat to the UCI campus. While no campus is free from the possibility of a random attack, I want you to rest assured that your safety and the safety of every person who visits, lives, studies or works on our campus is of primary importance to us. UCI police actively patrol the campus and keep an eye out for possible problems. If you see anything suspicious or troubling, please notify our police by stopping a passing officer or by calling 911.

Additionally, I encourage each of you to sign up to receive ZOTalerts on your phone or mobile device. This is the fastest and surest way to learn of any problems or threats on campus.
