UCI's New Strategic Plan

To the Anteater community: 

Fifty years ago, UCI was born to advance the audacious goal of improving society through globally preeminent research, life-enhancing discoveries and a world-class education for the most talented students, regardless of background. Today, UCI takes a leap forward to realizing its brilliant future with its new strategic plan.

The higher education landscape is shifting, requiring us to draw on our entrepreneurial roots and apply new strategies to ensure our longevity. In order for UCI to continue to thrive, we have to be willing to take our future in our own hands – develop new partnerships, invest in research that matters, serve our community in meaningful ways, and provide the best educational environment for each and every Anteater.

Developed with extensive participation from the campus community, UCI’s new strategic plan sets forth an ambitious path to reach new heights of distinction and social impact. Building on the university’s existing strengths, it aims to make UCI even better by honoring the spirit of all those who cultivated our culture of innovation and excellence.

The plan is based upon four pillars:

With this plan, we have a clear direction into the foreseeable future that echoes the promise of our university’s founding mission. We will mobilize knowledge, we will serve the people, and we will educate the best and brightest.

We are excited and inspired by the work we will do together in the months and years to come.
