50th Anniversary Anteater Spirit Rally

Dear Colleagues:

President Obama’s keynote address at June’s commencement at Angel Stadium of Anaheim launched UC Irvine’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in fine style. Now it is time to kick off our on-campus festivities marking this significant milestone.

I invite all UCI staff, faculty and students to join me at the Bren Events Center on Thursday, Dec. 4, for the 50th Anniversary Anteater Spirit Rally, starting at 10:45 a.m. The event will feature games, prizes, music and special performances by our Anteater Band and Spirit Squad, and the first-ever aerial UCI spirit photo. This will be our time to “rally” around all the exciting events and programs developed to highlight our shared Bright Past, Brilliant Future.

UCI Staff Assembly will host its Fifth Annual Holiday Stocking Stuffer immediately following the main program. Your volunteer efforts will benefit the Olive Crest organization.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy this event and also keep university offices open and services available, I am authorizing administrative leave time from 10:30 a.m. to noon to augment the lunch hour, with approval from supervisors and providing appropriate office coverage.
