Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Data transition

Dear colleagues:

Since he joined UC Irvine in October 2019, Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Data Tom Andriola has worked closely with leaders across campus and the UCI Health system to transform UC Irvine’s approach to technology and data. Under his leadership, the Office of Data and Information Technology has championed digital strategies, established new institutional capabilities, fostered interdisciplinary and industry collaborations, and advanced our reputation for innovation in support of UC Irvine’s roles as a research university, healthcare provider and community partner.

Today, UC Irvine is positioned as a technology innovator among peer universities and as a national leader in student success and artificial intelligence, earning wide recognition for its strategic use of technologies and tools in an increasingly digital world.

In reaching these milestones, the Office of Data and Information Technology has largely achieved its objectives. Consequently, with this success Tom Andriola has shared his intention to retire, and he will be leaving UC Irvine at the end of August to begin his next chapter.

On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, we thank Vice Chancellor Andriola for his contributions to UC Irvine and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Howard Gillman

Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Hal Stern
