UCI Walks for Wellness

UCI will hold its annual UC Walks event on Wednesday, May 16. As part of this free systemwide event, UCI will host walks throughout the day at both the main campus and the medical center. The campus start line will be on Gateway Plaza’s lower level, near Langson Library and Aldrich Park; the medical center start line will be on the lawn of Edward Shanbrom, M.D. Hall (Building 55). UCI faculty, staff and retirees are invited to lace up their sneakers and walk with co-workers, colleagues and friends. Each participant will receive a UC Walks T-shirt.

In addition to the walks, there will be fair booths at both locations where people can learn more about community and personal wellness and safety resources, enjoy healthy snacks and enter to win raffle prizes.

To help support engagement in these UCI-wide activities, I authorize the augmentation of the May 16 lunch period for participants by an additional 60 minutes, where possible, in consideration of operational needs and subject to approval by the appropriate supervisor/manager.

We strive to empower the success of every member of our community and recognize that an important measure of creating a culture of excellence is ensuring the health and safety of our colleagues. I encourage you to join your co-workers in taking a healthy break as we promote moving more throughout the workday. To register, visit: http://www.wellness.uci.edu/facultystaff/ucwalks.html.
