Vice Chancellor, University Advancement

To the Anteater community:

I am delighted to announce that Brian T. Hervey has accepted appointment as our next vice chancellor for university advancement. In this role he will maximize our advancement programs and engage volunteers, alumni, friends, corporations and foundations that find in us a vehicle for their dreams and a collaborator for their ventures.

Brian came to UCI more than a year ago, in May 2015, as associate vice chancellor for health advancement. He also has been serving as interim vice chancellor for university advancement since November of last year. Since his arrival, UCI completed the most successful nonprofit fundraising campaign in Orange County’s history and announced the largest gift in our history. Prior to joining UCI, he led successful multimillion dollar fundraising campaigns at Scott & White Healthcare Foundation in Texas, where he served as vice president for philanthropy and communications. Previously, he was director of institutional advancement at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.

Brian received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and holds the professional designations of Certified Fundraising Executive and Certified Gift Planning Professional. A recognized philanthropic leader, he has served on the institutional advancement steering committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges and held leadership positions with the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.

The search committee oversaw an international search that yielded more than 50 outstanding candidates. I am very grateful to the committee and its chair, Dean Georges Van Den Abbeele, for their incredibly hard work, exceptional diligence and wise counsel.

Please join me in congratulating Brian on his new role.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Howard Gillman
