Chancellor and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez salute high school scholars

Chancellor Drake and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez saluted 450 participants of the 2012 Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP) Student Leadership Conference who were gathered in UC Irvine’s Physical Sciences lecture hall on Saturday, April 14. The conference was for students in federally funded TRIO and GEAR UP programs at 15 colleges and universities across Southern California. Ten high school seniors were presented with scholarships by the congresswoman.

Rep. Sanchez and Chancellor Drake recognize members of the TRIO and GEAR UP college preparation programs for their efforts to help underrepresented high school students achieve their goal of becoming the first in their families to attend college.
